INFINITE - PARADISE

This upbeat song tells a sad story though - of a broken pining heart that wants to keep their girl locked up in their … well, paradise.

The orchestra-like instrumentals during the intro is either a hit or miss with some people. Personally, it does gives off a bit of an old-school feel, but as it flows into the slightly upbeat pop rock tempo, you can already feel yourself gradually getting into the rhythm. The accompanying guitar riffs gives this song a breath of an edge.

The addictive chorus is definitely credited to the high octave notes. And the boys hit them notes beautifully. It could have been even better if they had balanced it out with a stronger lower vocal range for the rest of the song. Too much high octave can make one get sick of the song easily. The rap break with its much lower vocal range was the much needed break after the high-octave-driven chorus and gives the song its moment of “badass”. All in all, their vocals and harmonization are impressive especially during the chorus.

This song will definitely grow on you, a 4/5 from me x)

KAT-TUN - SWEET CHAIN

Challenging a new side to their artistic style, the boys take on a more slower-tempo genre instead of the usual fast-rhythm/rock-style of music.

Sweet Chain is a sweet (no pun intended but it keeps popping up throughout this review, can’t be helped, really.) mid-tempo ballad which is highly made up of the members harmonizing amazingly overlapping each other’s falsettos. Ranging from Kamenashi’s crisp vocals, Taguchi’s fresh vocals, Tanaka’s low vocals and rap, Ueda’s soothing vocals and Nakamaru’s smooth vocals, each fits perfectly in a harmonious melody. Notably, the overlapping of member Kamenashi’s, Ueda’s and Nakamaru’s vocals are a perfect fit for this song.

The low rap was a good addition to play down the Adam-Levine-like high octaves in this song while giving this song an edge of it’s own with the kinda badass-sounding rap that ends off this song on a sweet note.

Listen to this while reading the lyrics, it will either
A) Makes you cringe at the sweetness, or…
B) Makes you melt at the beauty of the sweetness

This song might get a tad tiring after much replaying though thanks to the overdose of falsettos from the start till end. But for those with a sweet tooth for such a sweet song, this will definitely be your Sugar Candy Chocolate Baby~ ;)

This gets a 4/5! :)

I couldn’t think of anything else so give him. ^^; I’m no graphic maker extraordinaire so that option is completely obliterated, LOL. I’ve had this project months before, so hopefully this came out as passable. XD The translations, I must say, is not 100% on point. I wanted everything to rhyme (I’m such a stickler for rhyming words Y___Y) while retaining the true meaning of the song as well, so it’s not gonna be exactly the same words from a translation you’d see in the internet.

AKB48 - Beginner

• This is AKB48’s first single that has totaled a million sales since their major debut in 2006.
• “Beginner” is the 243rd single with a million sales in Japanese singles history.
• The “uncensored” version of the PV received alot of heated attention over it.

Unlike their cutesy pop idol image, this single reflects otherwise and is different from their usual cute and happy tracks. Right from the intro, this song has a darker more mature feel to it. With catchy chorus and slightly upbeat tempo, this track sure is addictive after a few listen.

Due to the large number of members in a group, there is no distinctive strengths of vocals, but props to them for being able to sing in almost-perfect harmony.

For first time listeners of AKB48, this song is highly to pull them in.

A 3.5/5 for the refreshing track from them girls :)
